plot
There are many events that take place in this novel - including flashbacks and glimpse of the future. It was a very interesting book in that way, at some points trying to figure out what time zone point you were in... Heidi also explains a lot of things so sometimes it's just a collection of memories.
Below are enough plot points that don't give away the story, but get you hooked/things that are important but doesn't spoil anything :
Below are enough plot points that don't give away the story, but get you hooked/things that are important but doesn't spoil anything :
- At fist Heidi was in a police car - the front seat - she also talked about being in places talked about, later in the book. I guessed this was a future event because of that evidence.
- Next Heidi talked about her mother and Bernadette. Bernie compared her mother to a broken machine,
From this chapter you learned that Heidi's mother was mentally disabled and that Dette might right be one of the most amazing, caring person ever.
- The next big piece of information is that Heidi is a very lucky person, luck is a very good thing for her. She and Dette where playing a memory game and each time, first try, Heidi got every single match correct. Heidi started using her "gift" to win money with a slot machine my the laundromat.
- Now Heidi explains how they got with Bernadette... She first heard this pitiful sound and opened her door to find baby Heidi in a blanket and her mama standing there in a raincoat with mud splattered on her legs. Bernadette let them in. So B. It went to the window while Bernadette fed and washed up Heidi and gave her back to So B. It while they went to their apartment next door. Bernadette worried about them and couldn't go next door because her phobia. Then she remembered the door in the closet and realized it opened into their apartment so she started taking care of So B. It, and Heidi. And that's how it's been ever since Heidi says.
- Since she can't speak many words, So B. It, can't talk much about her past. Heidi is really interested in learning about what her mother can't tell her...
That's about as far as the plot can go without giving the story away...
I can say that they problem was resolved by the end of the novel. Heidi makes things better but, worse at the same time...
